Two reports published recently, one of the Leichtman Research Group and others with Communication Workers of America (PPA) has painted a rather bleak industrial landscape of broadband America.
Leichtman paper revealed that broadband take-up has not lved in the second quarter of 2008 compared with second quarter 2007. Telephone companies have growth rates lower, while the cable companies take the lion part of the new purchases. According to reports, an excessive emphasis on high-speed FiOS and U-verse service to maintain the traditional DSL service higher and a curse.
Predictions for the future of broadband in conflict. According to Bruce Leightman, president of Leichtman Research Group, said there are a lot of potential for growth in the U.S. market. But he agreed that there was a report that said the U.S. broadband market is near full. Approximately 55% of the U.S. population has broadband in their homes. Another 45% are not able either to join the broadband service, or a desire t years is out of broadband services. In one example, a city that is outside the reach of commercial broadband services to try to build their own networks. But it was sued by a communications company not a local call to the city to provide the fiber necessary to complete the job.
PPA and printed reports indicate that U.S. broadband speeds far when compared to other industries. 230.000 average speed of Internet users found that 2.3 Mbps. Two extremes of Rhode Island in Alaska at 6.8 Mbps and 0.8 Mbps. Ukilinganisha Japan has a very fast broadband speeds to 63Mbps; South Korea was second in 49Mbps, while the french clocked at 12Mbps.
According to Larry Cohen, president of the PPA, ISN T broadband speeds just about how quickly users can download the movie. Cohen says that the download speed is important for the economy and the developers are trying to be competitive in international markets increasingly advanced. But as the cost, consumer apathy and competitive U.S. market and continue to undermine growth, the U.S. could soon find themselves falling behind developing countries like South Africa.
