When you start the process of getting your wireless network, you have three basic stages and make a wireless access point (s):
- Remove all the default settings on all your wireless network device
- Turn on encryption security
- Closing the door outside the network, unauthorized users
This discussion is a practical guide that you need to do. However, only one set of generic instructions. There are hundreds or even thousands of different networks in the market. Each manufacturer has a series of steps and follow the instructions to configure their equipment to get the product setup. And at every vendor, every product run their own quirks and unique circumstances. To get the most throughput and security of your network, I suggest you read generally used to measure the wireless network operations. Then, read the manual for the manufacturer of the product you select.
Remove the Defaults
Beautiful truth is the number of users who create wireless networks that open a window on their computer and leave the default settings. This is equivalent to the best money can buy a deadbolt installed front door but not even close!
At a minimum, you will change the service set identifier (SSID), the administrator name and password. Do not let this set to the factory defaults. Remember to open the front door? You will need to duplicate these changes in my country all the equipment advice about what you think you want to use these values before starting to implement them as you go. Or you can leave all the default settings for the change-up and test the networks operate, close and go back and change these values as final. This is about you and do not care when you do that, just that you do!
The next step is to return to the top level of security that is common to all of your device. Go for WPA2 if possible and alternative kinachokubalika WPA. If only the security level is available to you is WEP, so I suggest you consider the development of pieces of wireless equipment to prevent from using WPA2. Cost changes from small pieces; small network security vulnerabilities is very high.
Welcome Your Door Network
Create a closed network. In closing, this means deadly invitations and announcements that any way to take action for the pair from your network.
First, turn off SSID broadcasting. Many point to send their SSID so that new users can access the network. This is good for the start but more is needed rather than the first configuration. With this SSID broadcast turned off, some users try to search the wireless network will not see you. This is not a substitute for safety just SPA, but another step in getting access to your network.
Setting a MAC layer of security. Kukuruhusu get a lot of input point wireless device MAC address or include exclude list. Although this is not 100% effective in limiting access, what other layers to increase the access that should not win Packer access to your network.
If you implement each of these areas of protection, will secure a secure wireless network for its users.
